Founded in 2005, the Eagle Valley Dragon Boaters Society (EVDBS) is a non-profit club for people of all ages and backgrounds who love being on the water. Our mission is simple: promoting health and friendship through activity.
We are lucky to call the Shuswap and Mara Lakes our backyard. Paddling here means fresh air, mountain views, and the occasional wave from a passing houseboat. As stewards of these waters, we head out early to enjoy the morning calm before the lakes wake up.
Find us at: The District of Sicamous public dock (Mara Landing) at the end of Main Street.
Season: May through September
Practices: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Time: Arrive at 6:45 am (gear-up/warm-up) | On the water 7:00 am – 8:00 am
Festivals: We participate in local races with a "funpetitive" spirit—training to
be race-ready while keeping enjoyment as the top priority.
Year-Round Fun: From post-practice coffees and potlucks to winter land training and full moon paddles.
Community Presence: Look for us at Music in the Park, the Farmer’s Market, and the Sicamous Christmas Light Up Parade.
Connecting: We partner with local sponsors and frequently collaborate with neighbor clubs to fill boats for practices and special events.
Dragon boating is the ultimate team sport, where 20 paddlers move as one. Our membership includes everyone from decades-long veterans to seasonal residents picking up a paddle for the first time.
No experience? No problem. Our coaches focus on technique and synchronization so we paddle smoothly and safely. You don’t need a high fitness level to start—just a willingness to learn! Whether we are on the boat or bonding on land, we are committed to an active, connected lifestyle.
Come paddle with us and see why the Shuswap is one of the most special places to dragon boat in BC!
